Personal Letter to Merrill Osmond

April 17, 2008

Dear Merrill,

I wanted to write to you about the recent "The Civil War" production that concluded 12 days prior to this letter. Your voice during the performance was absolutely phenomenal - it reminded me strongly of Neil Diamond's distinctive style and power. The emotion and authenticity you brought to each song truly made the experience unforgettable.

I was disappointed to learn that 40 people in the audience were unable to meet you during your sick time. However, I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet 13 people in one matinee and 18 people in another performance. Each interaction was meaningful and special.

One particularly memorable moment was during the "River Jordan" number with Carleton at the closing show. The performance received a standing ovation that seemed to go on forever. What touched my heart most was seeing the black audience members shouting "go brother, go sister" - it was a beautiful moment of unity and appreciation.

As a theater superfan, I take great pride in bringing 50+ first-time theater attendees to shows. It's rewarding to share the magic of live theater with people who have never experienced it before. I was also honored to meet Carleton's mother and grandmother during the run of the show.

Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment and the memories you've created. Your dedication to your craft and your ability to move an audience is truly remarkable.

With sincere appreciation and gratitude,

Doug Edmunds
